I'm very reluctantly selling this Mark VI alto due to personal reasons. I knew I wanted a Mark VI, but as anyone who loves these horns knows, they vary enormously.
you can buy them new for between £16,0 to £17,0 These are the most luxurious saxophones money can buy with fantastic intonation and response. Selmer Mk VI Alto Saxophone for sale, Serial Number 132xxx.
Something I must highlight is the fact that there is a very small indentation on the bow and the bell which were there when I purchased it. The Selmer Super Action 80 Series II alto is without doubt the world's most popular professional alto saxophone.
There's a lot of mystique surrounding this little-known manufacturer (now no longer in business), which is perhaps typical of the cohort of manufacturers based around the German/Czech block. It has silver keys and Mother-of-Pearl button inlays and is beautifully engraved on the body along with the words 'Markneukirchen-Kungenthal' in German. A green carry case with a black velvety interior accompanies the instrument, in addition to a Yanagisawa mouthpiece and, if needed, a saxophone stand, cleaning mop and basic music stand. Selmer Paris SA80 Series II Alto Sax Silver Plated with Case.
In the Reference 54, Selmer took inspiration from their hugely popular Mark VI - a strong centred sound with plenty of projection, whilst redesigning the neck, bore size and ergonomics. There has been a small repair close to the water key, but this does not effect the playing of the instrument in any way. In great working condition, no dents, springs and pads in perfect playing condition.
The condition is exceptional, with normal wear to the lacquer as expected with it's age, it comes with Gordon Beeson pads and in 1st class playing condition. Complete overall (please see pictures of before and after). The Reference Series is Selmer's nod towards their hugely popular saxophones of the past, encapsulating the spirit of these fantastic instruments into a newly refined design. Not used for 12 years, still in find order but unfortunately no interest shown by offspring hence reason for sale. The original Selmer case has seen better days but an adjustment for a possible replacement has been reflected in the price. I will include the service sheet detailing the work done in the service.** Final Reduction ** Professional Sax and flute teacher reluctantly selling my YTS 62 serial number D64259 Silver made in Japan tenor.
I am keeping the neck sling, swab cleaner and cloth for my next one - an Alto which I can cope with ref weight. Comes with the shaped reference case which I'll upload a picture of later.
Would be happy to p/x for an Alto in equally good condition. B&M Champion Alto sax, good condition & just serviced, plays strongly all the way down to bottom Bb & up to the top. As picture some of the blue paint has come of the S on the crook and lacquer has peeled of the thumb hook. Horn seals all the way up and down with low notes popping out with ease and altimisso sing in a full tone easily.
